Mix-Match Mash-Up Really Strikz Me

There is an interesting blend of design elements going on inside the arena at Strikz Entertainment in Frisco, TX, which I got to experience thanks to an impromptu 1v1 game.

I had purchased a game pass and inquired about playing it as a 1v1 with a staff member. I was told this would not be possible, so I took a seat and waited for another player to show up. In the meantime I watch as a mom comes up to the counter with her son. It appears that he wants to play, but she has a little one and can’t go in with him, so they start to leave.

I am surprised, so I go up to her and introduce myself, tell her I am a blogger with a game already purchased and that I was sitting there just waiting for someone to play against. They are delighted that I have become a solution and her son is ecstatic to play a game of laser tag with me. I am equally delighted to get to see what U am affectionately calling the “mix-match mash-up” waiting behind this arena entryway.

We are led into the vesting room with racks of Zone Helios CE packs are ready to go and we vest up.

Then we enter the arena and I see an interesting blend of old meets new with their theming choices.

Although this is a small, single level arena they have packed the space with a lot of maze walls. This is obviously a hybrid of two themes. The older theme is this standard CW design with the orange and green panels with the X design. If I did my homework I could probably find the proper name for this theme, but we’ve all seen this before, so you can understand which walls I am talking about.

But these walls are integrated side by side with what I call the rock wall design…and it shows up here in a BIG way!

The only thread I can see tying these themes together would be the orange accents. I can’t imagine that these maze pieces were originally intended to go together, but as I enjoy seeing unique combinations of arena mash-ups I find this kind of cool.

I also think it’s cool that the kid I played against really stepped up. This was a light game, but quite fun and the kid gave it his all. I love to see young players really enjoying the game and doing well because they may just be the Nats players of the future. :)

All in all, a fairly typical tag scenario for what it was, but I still found something interesting to appreciate in the “old meets new” arena atmosphere during this visit to Strikz Entertainment.
