The title of this post is sort of a play on words because, while it was a good looking arena, it also “attracted” my attention enough to motivate a last minute detour on my way through Pennsylvania, and RNT joined me for the stop.
I am also focusing mostly on the arena because on this stop we encountered an equipment issue that resulted in us checking out the space more than actually playing the game. Regardless, we made the most of it.
We stopped at Two T’s Family Entertainment Center in Easton, PA and were directed to a game building in the back that contained a nice arcade and an arena with Zone Helios CE.
It is described on their website as a two level arena, which is technically correct, but it has a unique style build with the division in the arena almost turning it into two halves rather than a full upper/lower divide. There is a blue base in the upper area and a red base on the lower level, which has a small internal maze within the architecture. You can see some of the balance between the levels when looking at it from the upper ramp corner.
Greg took note of the tube structure that is similar to another system’s arena, but slightly different and one of the little things I picked up on as an identifier. ;)
However, what really caught my eye was the way they have incorporated phaser shells as a border design. I noticed them hanging near the red base.
I love this look! I have seen phaser shells used in a variety of ways as arena decor and I think it not only makes for an attractive aesthetic, but also is a pretty good repurposing of old equipment. This border looks great…and also a bit familiar. Hmmm…
Probably because I have a very similar kind of vibe going on in my office, lol. Hey, if you have empty phaser shells, make the most of them!
So this is where we parted ways and I headed back to NY. I would have loved to explore more of the area, but I needed to return to prepare for Tag 4 A Cause. So I called it a night, glad to check off one more arena with this detour through Pennsylvania.
