Wristbands Rock!

I am now officially a member at Game On Social Hub, using my new membership name “Tivia Travels”.

What makes this membership different from my others? Something cool…rather than logging in with a membership card, I received this GOSH branded wristband with an RFID chip embedded in it so I can easily carry my membership right on my arm. The only thing better than tag swag is functional tag swag!

I held my wristband up to the reader at their membership terminal and set up my member info.

Can I just say, wristbands rock! This is a really clever and convenient way to keep my membership easily available and prevent the constant loss of cards (it happens all the time) while also promoting the business (the logo is always right in front of you). It’s a smart idea that feels like a cool perk while just making good sense all the way around.

I used my wristband to check out all the achievements I could try to complete before heading in to my first game as “Tivia Travels”. Ready? Let’s go!

I’m was joined by Scuba and Reason along with a couple other players who happened to pick the most fitting pack names for this weekend. That first game was simply about breaking in the membership and seeing what I could accomplish right out of the gate. The answer is 14 achievements…someone tell me if that’s any kind of record! ;)

We returned to the member terminal to see what exactly I had achieved. Not too shabby!

The kicker is I missed this one by only one percentage point, getting 89% accuracy instead of 90%. Careless on my part.

Well, now that I had my first game in as a member at this site, the rest of the games we played were just great fun. I love this arena and the experiences I had here this entire trip.

This is a great place to enjoy food, fun, friends and of course…laser tag!

Tagging Through Baton Rouge

Our next stop was to Main Event in Baton Rouge.

This was a different Delta Strike experience, as we got to play using Evolution packs. We suited up in the vesting area.

Then set out for the arena. The space had all the typical hallmarks I have come to expect when I played at Main Event.

There were some mirrors where we could take advantage of reflections to tag from interesting angles.

Scuba found the angles for hitting some targets from the upper level.

And then we chased each other for player tags all throughout.

Nice game!

And when we were done we enjoyed something a little out of the box…a PB and J bacon burger followed by a clever little dessert they called a mason jar cheesecake.  These did not last long!

This turned out to be a great way to round out this tag trip to Baton Rouge. :)

Surging Ahead to the Serpent’s Curse

While in Louisiana I wanted to check out a few laser tag arenas I had not previously visited, starting with Surge Entertainment in Baton Rouge where Scuba and I got ready to explore the Serpent’s Curse.

We watched a briefing video that set up the storyline behind the theming as we “crash landed” in the middle of the adventure and (for those who know sports) the video also featured Drew Brees, the former football quarterback and celebrity name attached to the Surge facilities. I liked the way they tied the whole concept together between the briefing room and the arena.

We put on our Delta Strike Genesis packs and entered the two-story arena to find ourselves surrounded by serpents and snakes everywhere we looked.

There were snakes overlooking the archways…

Snakes airbrushed on the walls…

And snakes guarding some of the additional targets scattered throughout the arena.

Two levels gave us plenty of space to traverse as we made our way up and down the ramps.

From the upper level there was a nice overlook to the ground floor and we experimented with determining which targets could be tagged from above.

As a reptile mom, I like the theming that was chosen for this arena. :)

And it was great to get to play some Delta Strike with Scuba this time around.

It was nice to have an opportunity to visit Surge Entertainment while traveling through Baton Rouge and experience the Serpent’s Curse”.
