Vibrant, electric and awesome! These are the words that I would use to describe the theming inside the laser tag arena at Urban Air in Dix Hills, NY. I want to call it modern-retro in the best way!
When I arrived and purchased my game the manager escorted me personally to the arena to facilitate my 1v1 with the delightful young woman on duty to marshal. First of all, I truly appreciate when this part is made easy. If I’m not arriving with other players it can sometimes be hit or miss, but they were so happy to accommodate me here.
As I put on my Delta Strike Genesis pack the marshal and I chatted about how this would be the third time today that I would be playing with this particular laser tag equipment. However, the experience here was completely different.
The vibe of this place was just right and that was my feeling before even seeing the arena. When I did…wow!
This looks to me like a physical representation of Art Pop with a retro 90s feel that is modernized by color-changing lights, vivid electric-neon and geometric artistry everywhere you look. If a Trapper Keeper were reimagined as a laser tag arena THIS would be it. And I mean that as the greatest compliment to the space!
The game played well in this single-level space with several video base targets throughout.
The smaller smart targets were incorporated into gates…
And on these cool geometric lit structures.
Check out the way the lighting in the arrow transitions between the photos.
I enjoyed this game a lot, but the arena itself is my real takeaway from this visit. It is becoming much more rare for me to step into an arena and see unique theming that I haven’t stumbled across in some variation somewhere else, but this just felt like walking into something awesome.
Well done Urban Air Dix Hills!
