Tagging to a Half Marathon and to Hero Status

Last night I completed a half marathon (13.1 miles) at my local laser tag arena! Some were done in between the games, but a good chunk of those miles were accomplished with a phaser in hand. :)

Laser tag is one of the best things I’ve done for my health since marrying it up with walking challenges (for distance or steps). I’ve taken on a number of different challenges in the last few months, but the one that was driving me last night was something new. A coworker introduced me to Hero Trainer, which is a much more gamified app to track daily steps. In two days I maxed out at level 13 (I don’t really know what that means either) and while it won’t count all my effort until I “gain experience” with the app over time (it caps your step count until you reach certain thresholds), it was enough of a motivator to make me step things up last night.

So going forward, when Tiviachick is tagging for points, the Tiviachick avatar will also be competing for step progress at the same time and earning “hero status”.

The app only counted 8000 steps before maxing out my current level, meanwhile I was actually over 30,000 steps for the day…whew, I’m tired! Not that this will keep me from continuing my current challenges walking for charities I believe in. That’s actually where the idea for Tag 4 A Cause began…segue…and donating to a great cause is how you can earn “hero status” also! Please join me in supporting the American Red Cross Disaster Relief during this quarter’s Tag 4 A Cause Laser Tag 5K Challenge. Want to get involved or even just donate to help make a difference? Come on heroes, let’s laser tag for fun, for health and for a great cause!
